The high-mountain hostel Era Garona is located in the north-western Catalan Pyrenees, in the Aran Valley, province of Lleida, the only place in the Catalan Pyrenees with an Atlantic climate. 

Era Garona Hostel has been built in the traditional Aranese style. It can be found in the beautiful village of Salardú, in the Naut Aran area. 10 km from Vielha, capital of the Aran Valley, 4 km from the Baqueira-Beret ski resort and 40 km from the Aigüestortes and Lake Sant Maurici National Park.

It holds a privileged position within the town, with spectacular views of the valley and close to the river Garona. The municipal swimming pool is just in front of the hostel. 

It has rooms with 2 to 10 beds, with private and shared bathroom. It also has a dining room, living room with TV, auditorium for 100 people, board games room, multi-purpose room with recreational games, workshop room, 2 classrooms, outdoor mini-basketball court, terrace and solarium, library, laundry, kitchen, heating, elevator and climbing wall. 

Era Garona is designed to host preschools, primary and secondary schools, recreation centres and groups of friends and families, both on weekends, in summer and in the snow season, as 4 kilometres away are the ski slopes of Baqueira-Beret.

The swimming pool is a municipal facility and is paid for directly at the pool itself.

Routes and itineraries

Around the hostel Era Garona, which is located in a prime location in the Aran Valley, many excursions can be made on foot, by mountain bike (MTB) and by car. You can visit Montgarri, Liat, Rüda, Aiguamòig, Varradòs, Artiga de Lin and Toran, Colomèrs cirque, lakes Saboredo and Restanca, Baricauba forest, Unyola Valley, Valarties, etc. 

The Aran Valley offers lots of snow activities in winter, such as alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and snowboarding in Baqueira-Beret, heli-skiing, dog sledding and snow shoeing. In addition, adventure sports such as rafting, whitewater canoeing, lake canoeing, canyoning, climbing, zip-lining, archery, motorcycle trials, hydrospeeding, quading, paragliding, etc. 

Other sports that can be practised in the Aran Valley are horse riding, golf, skating in the Ice Palace and swimming in the indoor pool in Vielha. You can visit the Aran Valley Ethnological Museum and relax in the thermal baths of Tredòs. 

There are also villages around the hostel that can be visited on foot such as Unya, Tredòs, Gessa and Arties.
