In the immediate surroundings, a major highlight is the church of Santa Maria, an emblematic Romanesque church from the end of the 12th century located next to the house. The castle of Talamanca was also built in the Romanesque style and is located in the town’s historic centre. This 10th-century castle has been catalogued as a cultural asset of national interest and constitutes an area landmark.
Among other important sites, there is also the chapel of Santa Margarida. In addition, you’ll be able to visit the crags, rocky places and unusually beautiful stream of Talamanca, which has water all year round. A key lookout point is Saldoners Square, the site of an old stone quarry from 1700. From this spot, you’ll get one of the best views of the mountain of Montserrat from Talamanca.
The castle of Balsareny, a 14th-century construction that is quite well-preserved, serves as a good example of a Gothic fortress. On top of a hill, over the river, today its breezy parapets are easily spotted from the Eix del Llobregat. The views are magnificent, especially toward the north of the county, to the Pyrenees.
The castle and canonry of Sant Vicenç de Cardona. Also on top of a hill there rises the castle of Cardona, a fortress containing the church of Sant Vicenç, a perfect example of Catalan Romanesque architecture. Also of note are the remains of the castle of the Viscount (12th-13th centuries), currently operated as a hotel, and the medieval Torre de la Minyona (Maiden’s Tower).
The Toll Caves, a geologic formation that conserves vestiges of fauna from the Quaternary Period and of humans since the Epipalaeolithic.
Other sites which can be visited include the Monastery of Sant Benet del Bages, Sant Fruitós del Bages, the Santa Cova in Manresa, or the Monastery of Montserrat.
