Bunyola is located at the foot of the Alfabia mountain range, on the southernmost slope of the Tramuntana mountain range in Mallorca. The municipality of Bunyola is bordered on the south by Palma and Marratxí, on the north by Escorca and Sóller, on the east by Santa Maria del Camí and Alaró and on the west by Deià and Valldemossa. Bunyola has one of the largest forests on the island: Sa Comuna, which is made up of pine groves and small oak groves.
The area has preserved its traditional charm. One of the main attractions are the stone houses and the narrow alleys surrounded by flowers. Another feature are the commemorative plaques found in several houses that recall various illustrious figures and the time they lived in the village. In addition, it features large natural spaces, forests and traditional architecture. Sant Mateu church, the tobacconist of Raixa and the gardens of Alfabia are all worth visiting.
The most outstanding activities include excursions, climbing and hiking, mainly in the Sa Comuna forest. Despite being a mountainous area, it is easily accessible and perfect for nature lovers. In addition, there are several bicycle routes, following the most charming countryside paths in an alternative way. In addition, every Wednesday and Saturday a traditional market is held in the town’s main square.
Places of interest include the Alfabia gardens, the Alaró castle, the Sea Museum in Sóller, the Puig Galatzó reserve and the Bellver castle, a Mallorcan Gothic castle that is unique in Europe due to its circular layout.
Other points of interest on the island of Mallorca are the port of Sóller, Palma de Mallorca, Inca or the well-known Caves of Drach.
